Joshua Shanley

Josh Shanley is a retired firefighter/paramedic, photographer, historian, author, and educator specializing in Massachusetts emergency services and fire history. As a professional photographer, he documents fire, EMS, and emergency response professionals across the state. His historical research focuses on fire prevention, hazardous materials incidents, and public safety policies, and he is a frequent speaker on these topics.

Josh is the author of several books on Massachusetts fire and disaster history, including the forthcoming Cold War Massachusetts (April 2025) and Massachusetts Historic Fires and the Office of the State Fire Marshal (Summer 2025). His work connects historical events to modern emergency response, offering valuable insights for fire service professionals, hazardous materials technicians, and public safety leaders.
